Piers
There are a number of public fishing piers between Kitty
Hawk and Cape Hatteras. Most are open from April through November,
and are open 24 hours a day during the summer and early fall (hours
vary, so call before you go). A 24-hour fishing pass generally costs
$5 or $6. Season passes are available. All piers sell bait and have
tackle shops where you can rent poles (about $5 a day).

Jennette's Fishing Pier

Jennette's Pier, the oldest fishing pier on North Carolina's Outer
Banks, was built in 1939. This historic ocean landmark has weathered
dozens of hurricanes and nor'easters over the past six decades.
The latest, Hurricane Isabel, rolled through in September of 2003,
taking 540 feet of pier with it. They are rebuilding, making it
bigger and better. In partnership with the NC Aquarium on
Roanoke Island, they’ve added an Ocean Classroom and the all-new
'Giants of the Sea', the state’s largest collection of life-sized
trophy mounts.
Outer Banks

Fishing Unlimited's 600 foot Outer Banks Fishing Pier is well known
for it's great fishing and family atmosphere. Located in South Nags
Head, it is the fishing pier nearest to Oregon Inlet. The pier is
lighted and is open 24 hours a day. In the pier house you will find
a fully stocked tackle shop with all your fishing needs, an
oceanfront grill open for breakfast and lunch, video games for the
kids as well as rental rods and reels. Daily, weekly and weekend
passes are available. And, we DO offer Senior Citizens' Discounts.

The 850 foot pier is a beach landmark and has withstood many storms
and hurricanes and keep the fishermen coming back year after year.
Tackle shop in the pier house has everything you’ll need, plus
rental equipment, bait, and all the sandwiches, ice cold drinks and
snacks for a great day in the sun and surf.
Avon Fishing Pier - Avon

Stretching about 600 feet into the Atlantic Ocean, Avon Pier offers
excellent fishing plus a pier house store selling fishing gear, bait
and tackle, drinks, sandwiches, gifts and T-shirts. You can also
rent fishing gear if you need it. All-day fishing passes or just
sightseers. The Avon Pier closes in the winter months.
